Deputy Chief Greg Alex 
Assistant Chief Doug Freeman
Greg Alex has been appointed Deputy Chief effective November 15, 2019. Chief Alex started his career with CAL FIRE in 1989, and has been with San Luis Obispo County Fire since 2007. Prior to his promotion as Deputy Chief, he was the Assistant Chief for the Ventura Division of the San Luis Obispo Unit. In his new position as Deputy Chief, he will be responsible for overseeing operations and assisting the Fire Chief.
Doug Freeman has been appointed Assistant Chief-Administration effective November 18, 2019. Chief Freeman started his fire service career in 1998, and has been with San Luis Obispo County Fire since the spring of this year. Prior to his promotion as Assistant Chief, he was the Battalion Chief of Training. In his new position as Assistant Chief of Administration, he will be responsible for overseeing administration functions including Human Resources, budgets, and procurement.
