Paid Call Firefighter Information

We are actively recruiting Paid Call Firefighters, (PCF) to help protect their community. Paid Call Firefighters respond to emergencies from their home or work. If you are interested in becoming a Paid Call Firefighter, please contact the fire station closest to your home.

The Process to Become a Paid Call Firefighter (PCF):

Determine which of our SLO County Fire Stations is the closest to your home.
This will be the deciding factor in determining which PCF Company you will apply. Visit
the desired station and contact the station Fire Captain or Company Officer on duty. Let
them know you are interested in becoming a PCF.

If there is room on that company’s roster for additional PCFs, you will be
invited to attend two or more drills as a prospective candidate. Complete the San Luis
Obispo County Fire Department PCF Interest form found on the CAL FIRE/SLO
website, print it out and submit it to the desired station. You DO NOT have to fill out an
Application until you have been selected. PCF candidate interviews are conducted
during the months of September and October of each year. PCF candidate selections
will be made before November 1st of each year.
