Station 90 – SAN LUIS OBISPO
Located on the grounds of Camp San Luis Obispo, adjacent to the San Luis Obispo County Fire Training Center and near Cuesta College, Station 90 serves a critical role in protecting the central region of San Luis Obispo County. Its strategic location provides rapid access to urban, rural, and wildland environments, allowing personnel to respond effectively to a wide range of emergencies.
Station 90 protects an area that includes several significant target hazards and critical facilities, including Camp San Luis Obispo, Cuesta College, the California Men’s Colony, Bishop Peak Recreation Area, and the Highway 101 Cuesta Grade. The diversity of these occupancies and response environments requires personnel to maintain a high level of proficiency in structural and wildland firefighting, emergency medical services, technical rescue, and all-risk emergency response operations.
Through an Automatic Aid Agreement between the City of San Luis Obispo Fire Department and CAL FIRE/San Luis Obispo County Fire Department, Station 90 responds as part of the first-alarm assignment to structure and vegetation fires throughout portions of the City of San Luis Obispo and surrounding areas. This partnership enhances regional coordination and ensures the efficient deployment of resources during emergencies.
In addition to its emergency response responsibilities, Station 90 benefits from its close proximity to the San Luis Obispo County Fire Training Center, fostering a strong culture of training, readiness, and professional development that supports fire service operations throughout the county.
