Station 41 - LA PANZA
Located in eastern San Luis Obispo County along the Highway 58 corridor, La Panza Fire Station 41 operates seasonally during the declared fire season, providing critical wildland fire protection and emergency response services to the surrounding area. Positioned near the northern boundary of the Los Padres National Forest, the station plays an important role in protecting both local communities and adjacent wildland resources.
Due to its proximity to the National Forest and popular recreational areas, Station 41 frequently responds to a variety of incidents, including wildland fires, vehicle accidents, and off-highway motorcycle and ATV emergencies occurring in remote and challenging terrain. The station’s strategic location allows personnel to provide rapid response to incidents throughout the region while supporting neighboring agencies during large-scale emergencies.
Station 41 is staffed by a Fire Captain/Operator and two to three firefighters and operates a CAL FIRE ICS Type III four-wheel-drive wildland fire engine. This specialized apparatus is designed for off-road operations and provides firefighters with the mobility and capabilities necessary to respond effectively to wildland fires and emergencies in rugged terrain.
Through its seasonal staffing and strategic location, La Panza Fire Station 41 serves as an important component of the county’s wildland fire protection system, helping safeguard residents, visitors, and natural resources throughout eastern San Luis Obispo County.
